Evening Shoots at Tong

Dear Members

We had a very poor turnout at Tong’s evening shoot on the 14th June with only John Poole and one other shooting.

To make the evening shoots financially viable for the club we need a few more shooters if we are going to keep Tong running.

To help us get an idea on numbers please contact John Poole or Mick Rush in advance of the evening shoots (dates on the events page), this way we can plan the evenings better.

Help Required

We have a delivery of clays coming to Tong next Wednesday the 6th June which need unloading off the delivery van.

John Poole has unfortunately hurt his ribs in an accident and only has one other person to help him. If anybody is available to help John with the unloading please call him to discuss on 07762 244428.


Black Powder £28 per Kilo

Dear Members

The club now has in stock a good amount of Vesuvit LC Black Powder (medium) which we are making available to club members at the discounted rate of £28 per kilo or £15 per half kilo.
Interested parties can purchase the powder directly from John Poole at Pondock or Tong on shoot dates or from myself at Pondock on shoot dates.

Yorkshire Powder Burners


Due to a clash of dates with the Northern Shooting Show the clubs Hammergun Competition thats was planned for the 13th of May 2018 has been moved to the 10th of June 2018.

Northern Shooting Show 12th – 13th May 2018

Club members will be attending the Northern Shooting Show on the 12th and 13th May 2018 and will be present on both the MLAGB ‘have a go stand’ as well as the indoor MLAGB stall.

Please come along and support the black powder community!

Spring Nationals 21st April 2018

Dear Members

We are very tight on trappers and scorers for the nationals, any and all help on the day will be greatly appreciated.
The trappers/scorers we have will need cover for lunch, breaks and if they want to enter a few of the classes.

I didnt know John myself but for those that did his funeral is on Friday the 19th January 2018 at dewsbury Crematorium at 12.30pm.

Game Shoot

We have a limited number of spaces available for our end of season ‘black powder only’ game shoot at Burton Agnus near Bridlington on Saturday the 27th January 2018.

The event is strictly black powder only be it either muzzleloaders or cartridge guns, dogs with experience are welcome.
